music : ALICIA JO RABINS

Music

Alicia began studying classical violin at age 3, thanks to a Phil Donahue special on the Suzuki method. She went on to immerse herself in avant-garde composition, traditional fiddle music, singing, and songwriting in genres ranging from indie-folk to rock opera.

Girls in Trouble, Alicia's original song cycle about women in Torah, has released three albums and tours internationally. Alicia is also the composer and performer of A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff, a one-woman chamber-rock opera about the intersection of mysticism and finance, which premiered at Joe's Pub in NYC and tours nationally.

Alicia has performed fiddle music and folk songs across Central America and Kuwait as a US State Department cultural ambassador, and was the violinist in NYC's acclaimed klezmer-punk band Golem for eight years.
